2022 Spring in Americus – What a Beautiful Time of Year

There is so much to do in Americus and the surrounding area during Spring. The weather is beautiful, not too hot or too cold, and sunny almost every day. Although there are plenty of attractions to keep you busy any time of year, here is a summary of some upcoming events you should consider attending.

On Friday, March 25 starting at 4 PM through Sunday, March 27, the Watermelon Capital Hot Air Balloon Festival and Chili Cookoff will begin at Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele.  Live entertainment, arts and crafts, food trucks, hot air balloons, and a chili cook-off. Tethered balloon rides will be available for $20. The Chili Cookoff will be on Saturday with tasting for the people’s choice around 3 PM.

On Saturday, April 2, from 2 PM – 6 PM, come to downtown Americus for the Hot Glass Craft Beer Festival. This event is a celebration of the rich history of glassblowing in Americus combined with the artistry of craft brewing here in Georgia. Many regional breweries will be participating and glassblowing artists will be demonstrating their craft. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance as it is sure to sell out. In advance, general admission tickets are $35 and premium tickets are $75.

Also, on Saturday, April 2, the Sam Shortline Excursion Train departs from Georgia Veterans State Park in Cordele, Georgia for the Wine & Cheese Train.  Enjoy a 1.25 hour ride in the ambiance of a historic railroad car for this wine and cheese tasting event. Tickets are $89.99

On, Saturday, April 9,  from 11 AM – 5 PM, Wolf Creek Plantation will be hosting their 6th Annual Wolf Creek Spring Festival on site at the vineyard.  Free tastings, Free tours, live music, food and arts and crafts will be available.

On Saturday, April 16, from 11 AM – 10 PM, Pasaquan in Buena Vista will be hosting Pasafest 2022.  Celebrating the life of Eddie Owens Martin aka St EOM, this festival features artists from all over the state of Georgia. Have your face painted and your hair designed in true Pasaquoyan style. See what your future holds according to the Tarot cards. Enjoy live music by: ALIA TORRES, EXOTIC BIRD HUNTER, ZETA, PYLON REENACTMENT SOCIETY, CHICKASAW MUDD PUPPIES, CHEW, THE PINK STONES, and TERROR PIGEON. In advance, tickets are $20, $30 at the gate.

On Monday, April 25, the Southeast Electric Flying Festival aka SEFF Week returns to Hodges Hobbies Field in Andersonville and runs through Saturday, April 30. All electric radio-controlled plane enthusiasts are invited to attend the festival. At noon on Friday and Saturday, stop by the field to see demonstrations by top pilots.
