Summer’s Here – Things to Do and Stay Cool in Americus

Summer’s Here – Things to Do and Stay Cool in Americus
Yes, it is hot this time of year and the gnats can be annoying. And, with gas prices soaring, why would you consider coming to Americus this summer?

Americus is a great midway point between the Carolinas and Florida. If you are planning a driving trip, Americus is just 30 minutes west of I-75 but, if you travel US Highway 19, you will come directly to Americus. We recommend US 19, especially between Atlanta and Americus, because it is not as busy as I-75 which makes for a much more enjoyable and less stressful ride. Many people have allowed us to be their special stopping place going to and from Florida through the years.

Andersonville National Historic Site and Jimmy Carter National Historical Park are both about 10 miles from Americus. There is no admission fee. They are free! There are audio tours for your car available for Andersonville, so you can tour the site in the comfort of your air-conditioned vehicle. At both historic sites, the museum components are located indoors allowing you to escape the oppressive heat outside.

The Georgia Rural Telephone Museum in nearby Leslie is open on weekdays and admission is only $5! That is a bargain for a really interesting venue.

Maybe you just need a few days to escape everyday life or need a place for a staycation. If you plan a visit on non-holiday weekdays, the rate is $30 less than weekends and holidays. If you are looking for a bargain, we do offer three special discount options:  For our 3-night Weekday Special – Stay Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and get $30 off your stay.  For our 4-night Weekday Special – Stay 4 consecutive nights starting on Sunday or Monday and get $50 off your stay. Or our Weekly Rate Special – Stay 7 consecutive nights and get $100 off your stay. Please call us to book your room using one of these special discounts.

If travelling in the summer heat is not your thing, we look forward to seeing you in the Fall or Winter. Stay cool!
